Ivana Pechnik:
Piano
Ivana Pechnik began her piano studies at the age of five, in her
hometown of Belgrade, former Yugoslavia. She completed her Bachelor’s
degree in Piano Performance at the Academy of Music Art in Belgrade,
under Prof. Igor Lazko—a graduate of the Moscow P. I. Tchaikovsky
Conservatory and the youngest laureate in the history of the J.S. Bach
Competition in Leipzig.
During her bachelor’s studies she also attended master classes and
private lessons at the Moscow Conservatory and the Mozarteum
Conservatory of Salzburg. Ivana’s performance at the latter of these
institutions resulted in an invitation by the renowned Prof.
Karl-Heinz Kämmerling to continue her musical studies at the
Mozarteum. Unfortunately, plans changed for Ivana when war broke out
in her native country and she fled to the United States.
After graduating from the Academy of Music Art in Belgrade, she moved
to the United States and continued her studies at the Peabody
Conservatory of Music under Prof. Julian Martin—a graduate of Peabody
and piano faculty at the Juilliard. She obtained her Master’s degree
in Piano Performance with a full scholarship at the Florida State
University College of Music under Prof. James Streem—a graduate of
Juilliard.
Ivana is an active solo and chamber music performer and a dedicated
piano teacher. She has been teaching in Eastern Europe, Spain, and
the United States for over 20 years. Ivana is a multiple competition
prize-winner and a contestant in both national and international
competitions. She is the recipient of the Piano Teaching
Assistantship at the Florida State University and the Maryland StateArts Council Award for an Individual Artist Performance.
