Sean McCahill:
Sean McCahill was born in Annapolis, Maryland. At the age of 14 he picked up a guitar, started playing, and has never wanted to put it down. A 1994 graduate of The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., Sean earned a degree with honors in music composition. At C.U.A., he studied with renowned orchestration specialist Dr. Robert Garofalo, and guitarist Ginger Hildebrand. Since then he has worked & performed extensively in many areas of music ~ as a guitarist, percussionist, keyboard player, clarinetist, tenor, composer, arranger, transcriptionist, and high school music director.
He is comfortable in multiple genres of music, including rock, classical, folk, metal, pop, modern music, and jazz. Sean joined the faculty of the Music Workshop in August 2009, bringing more than ten years of experience as a teacher to offer his students. As a teacher, Sean emphasizes creativity, improvisation, and songwriting, focusing on reliable playing technique and the essential basics of music theory. He currently teaches private lessons in guitar, bass, & piano, and coaches bands in the Kidz Rock program.
